Description

Watercolour over pencil heightened with touches of bodycolour. This dates from Cox's second trip to France in 1829 in the company of his son David Cox Junior. Cox uses the figure group in the present watercolour in another 1829 watercolour,`Fishing Boats off Dover'` sold at Sotheby's on 9th November 1995, lot 101.
