Description

Broad landscape with buildings to the left and open fields to the right. To the left of the painting are small buildings, possibly farm barns. Towards the foreground two men stand leaning on a fence, beside them is a small child with their back to the viewer. Further right are two wagons, one tilted with a man sitting on it, the other upright. In the right foreground is a barrel with a plank of wood over it. In the centre foreground a boy in a red coat is playing hoop and stick. To the centre right in the distance is Woolwich Church.
In pencil under the painting is written "Bought by Col. Garatt[?] R. 2.[?] at PS Sale, Christie, 16 April 1817, Lot 113".
