Description

Panoramic view of the city of Lausanne, in the centre of which is Lausanne Cathedral; Lake Geneva beyond it and the Alps lining the background; a large grand house on the left edge of the city; several roads run from the town towards the foreground; in the left foreground is a road on which walk two wealthy figures; in the right foreground is a junction of three roads, in the middle of which a traveller with a backpack and a staff stands. Etching and aquatint with hand-colouring.

Inscription

Lettered below image: "Zeichnung v. Wegelin" and "stich v. Ch. Meichelt".
