Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX954.
In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh writes: 'Its native place uncertain. In Bengal it blossoms in February and the seed ripens during the rains; the tree is large and elegant, but of slow growth, yet the wood is soft and white, and deemed of little use'. According to Sealy as 'Uvaria longifolia Willd.' of Roxburgh, Flora Indica (Kew MS).
