Description

Botanical study of yellow flag iris [“yellow water flower de luce”] (Iris palustris lutea). From a series of watercolours of English grasses and wild flowers by Richard Waller (MS/131). The paintings were possibly intended as illustrations for a catalogue of plants by John Ray (1627-1705).
