Princess Louise joined her mother, Queen Victoria, to watch a military review near WIndsor Castle on 26 June 1869. They started the day by watching the construction of a pontoon bridge over the Thames before watching field exercises in the Great Park.

According to wikipedia, the Datchet bridge was demolished in 1848 and is the only case on the Thames where an established bridge crossing site has completely disappeared. The Victoria and Albert Bridges in Datchet were built to replace the old Datchet Bridge as part of the re-routing of the Datchet to Windsor roads following the expansion of the grounds of Windsor Castle. However it was built in 1851 and was of cast iron with stone abutments.
