Description

A pen and watercolour drawing of a view across parkland to a house on the far right. Several horses in the foreground, and a lake in the centre. The drawing was engraved by M. A. Rooker and published 1 January 1775 for the Copperplate Magazine. The print is no. 7 of views of Wales in the 150 Select Views. The drawing has possibly been trimmed, as the print shows much more to the right. Paul Sandby first visited Wynnstay in about 1770 when Sir Watkin Williams Wynn inherited the estate. Sandby published a set of aquatints of twelve views of North Wales under Wynn's patronage in 1776.
