Description

Watercolour painting on paper of Mimosa pudica, a creeping annual or perennial herb also called Sensitive Plant. The painting shows the prickly stem of the plant with eleven pink and yellow flowers and green seed pods. Multiple leaves are also shown. The leaves of the plant are unusual in that they fold inward when touched or shaken, re-opening later, which is illustrated in this painting by the leaves on the lowest set of leaves from the base of the stem. The painting is from an album of 58 botanical paintings.
