Capriccio with the ruins of the Roman Forum (Campo Vaccino), record of the painting in the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide, from the Liber Veritatis; the buildings from left to right are the ruins on the Palatine Hill, the three columns of the Temple of Castor and Pollux, the cattle drinking-fountain, the Colosseum, and an imaginary round temple. Pen and brown ink and brown wash, with watercolour, heightened with white (oxidised). Verso: Open landscape; with trees and a piping shepherd on the left, cattle on sloping ground at centre and right, hills across a valley in distance. Pen and brown ink and brown wash, over black chalk.
