Description

A ship labelled in gold as "Victoria"; sailing away full sail, bearing the Royal Standard and the Union Jack; largest sail lifts as a flap to reveal portrait of Queen Victoria, bust length to right, wearing crown and ermine; with short verse. 1837. Lithograph, hand-colour.

Inscription

Lettered below image with verse: "Britannia's pride - the Briton's boast / The safeguard of old England's coast / Equipp'd, alike, for calm or breeze / Behold the Monarch of the Seas! / Bold hearts and hand wait her command, / The glory of their Father land / Whilst Freedom lives, by land and sea / Victorious shall Victoria be / C.
