Shows a view of Lake Taupo with houses to the left and right of the source of the Waikato River. The Central Plateau with Mount Ruapehu, and other snowy peaks is shown.The vegetation in the left foreground includes toetoe. on the shore in the middle distance is a partly-built boat, probably the Victoria, a steamer launched July 1874
