Description

Watercolour painting, sparsely coloured on paper, of the top of the marble screen that surrounds the cenotaphs of Shah Jahan and Arjumand Banu Begum in the Taj Mahal. The painting shows a panel of white marble which has been carved into a repeating pattern of a vase, connected to the next vase by a floral spray. The marble has flowering plants inlaid on the surface, created with precious and semi-precious stones. These carved panels crown the top of the screen. The painting is framed by a thick black line.
