Description
View of the temporary structure prepared for the fireworks in Green Park in 1749; a neo-classical façade with three openings, the central one arched with a statue of Peace, Neptune and Mars below, double staircase leading up to it and a balustraded arcade extending to either side, ending in small lodges with triangular pediments, fireworks attached to top of structure and along sides, three figures, two male and one female, in foreground walking along path in park away from structure towards viewer with a small crowd assembled behind them next to fireworks; unfinished. Graphite, with pen and ink, and watercolour wash, from three sheets, joined.
