Description

Inscription reads: La Maddalena.
Dutton, in 'Founder of a city', states that Light was in Sardinia from May to October/November 1829, and specifically left La Maddalena (on the north east tip) 31 October 1829. Presumably a sketch was drawn at this time, and the watercolour followed at some later date - c.1828-1829. The view Light depicted is looking northwest across the water towards La Maddalena.
