Description

Shows a view of the survey station from across the Manawatu River. The Kari Kari station stands on a bend in the river about eight miles from the coast, and consists of four or five scattered buildings and two tents beside bush, at the water's edge. A flagpole flies a blue flag. There is a canoe drawn up on the bank, and another canoe midriver has been erased. The distance shows low rolling bush-covered hills, and the near bank is covered with bush.

Relates to illustration number 32 (Plate 11) of Brees' "Pictorial illustrations of New Zealand".

Dated from date given by McArthur's Auction in 1987.
