Watercolour, Street Scene by Rosamond C. Talbot (1837-1906). Mounted watercolour of a street scene. In the bottom left of the picture is Rosamond Talbot’s monogram ‘RT’ and dated 1904. In the bottom left of the mount is a white sticky label marked ‘Lamb Inn, River Street, Chippenham. RC Talbot £1.1.0’.

River street was demolished in 1952 and the Lamb Inn closed in 1959 (https://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/4401843.grand-old-pub/). There is still a road sign indicating River Street – the top of it – it leads from the High Street by Burton’s down into the car park by Little Waitrose (https://www.mychippenham.org.uk/latest/74-rewriting-chippenham-history-by-john-chandler)
