Biographical History: The Church at Carrington, Port Stephens, was established in 1847 by the Australian Agricultural Company (AAC) and built by convict labour under the direction of Philip Parker King. King was the Commissioner of the AAC between 1839 and 1849. When the The AAC headquarters were relocated to Stroud in 1862 the Carrington church was closed, but still stands today, on private land.
