Description

A brown wash version by Woolford of this view "The American Falls, Niagara Falls", 250 x 355 mm., is in P.A.C. (1979-9-32; Negative. No. C 99565). See Dalhousie Journals v.1, pp. 134-437 (14-46 July 1819): "Woodford has taken a collection of sketches & those small pieces of the whole are very good." See also v.2, p. 73 (13-16 July 1821) for another visit. See Woolford notes. TEC 833A Date Created year approximate for 1819?
Inscribed in ink, mount l.r.: Major J.E. WOOLFORD, Del. 1824; In ink over pencil, mount l.c.: NIAGARA FALLS.
