Caption: "The ruins of Pennard Castle in Gower above a sandy inlet influenced by the tides of the Bristol Channel The streamlet of Pennard Pill winds through it & the sandy inlet winding throughout is open to the sea in the south - but the fair opening to it is not seen from the castle intersected at the opening by Pwldy Point, it appears land locked. Glamorganshire"
