Description

St John's Gate, Clerkenwell; a gatehouse with a large arched gateway, the building has a stone façade and towers either side of the arch, the central recessed portion of the building has a central window divided into three by arched tracery below which is a mostly illegible inscribed panel flanked by coats of arms, the towers are in a state of some disrepair with the brick structure visible beneath missing patches of stonework. 1842. Watercolour with bodycolour over graphite.
