[ca. 1870]
Description
Shows the Newmarket Hotel in Auckland, a large, two-storey gabled building. Its name is written on the front of the building and a red ensign flies from the flagpole with 'Auckland' on it. The land is fenced and other buildings, including the saleyards, can be seen close by; there are two cows in the foreground. A gulley of trees and bush separates the hotel from the foreground
According to some sources, the hotel was cited on the corner of Remuera and Newmarket Roads. It was built by the Buckland family before they moved to 'Highwic', in Epsom
