Description

Coastal scene with ruins of a tower at right with figure entering arch below and woman with children rushing towards it, the wind blowing her clothes about her, behind a ship caught on a wave which crashes into a round tower on a pier. 1800. Hand-coloured aquatint and etching.

Inscription

Lettered below image with title, dedication to John Penn Esqr. of Stoke Park by the painter, production detail: "R. Freebairn Pinxit", "I. Hill Sculpsit" and publication line: "London Published March 20th. 1800, And to be had of R. Freebairn, Hampstead"
