Description

Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX943. In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this species as a fruit tree, native of China. It flowers at the beginning of the hot season, and ripens its seed three or four months afterwards. Roxburgh also notes: 'The fruit, and indeed every part of the tree, possess a peculiar kind of agreeable fragrance, which is something of a Terebinthinaceous nature.'
