Description

Landscape with large domed hill at centre, bands of trees and a haystack on it, a sun at left with rays partly visible above the horizon, at right a cenotaph and trees, hills beyond, a rainbow and black crescent moon above, a seated figure and cows in foreground, formerly in a sketch-book of 77 sketches. c.1824. Pen and brown ink, with watercolour and gold. Verso: Landscape similar to that on recto, sun now on the right, three figures walking towards the hill, a cow on the right. Pen and brown ink.
