Description
Effigy of Margaret, wife of Sir Roger de Bois, at Ingham Church, Norfolk, study prepared for, but not used in Stothard's 'The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain', published by Mrs Anna Eliza Bray, 1817-32, one of a large group of studies for this volume; whole-length, recumbent female figure, seen in profile, head at left, wearing a mantle, with a circular badge bearing the Cross of St. Antony, and right arm mutilated, also detail studies of her dress and coiffure. Pen and grey ink and graphite, with watercolour.
