Inscribed on verso in graphite, centre right: "William Daniell R.A. | (1769-1837) | View of London Bridge & St. Paul's Cathedral | The Original watercolour by the artist | afterwards engraved by him as Plate III in | his Views (6) of London. & Published by him | These form a magnificent scenes & show | Daniell at his very best as an artist & engraver | This drawing, quiet and restrained in its | colouring is undoubtedly one of his finest. | From the collection of the artist's daughter | Mrs. Rose Wood, who died in 1914, aged 102"; in pen and brown ink, lower right: "Ellen Burney".
