Description

The briar moth in flight, shown with pupa and caterpillar. According to artist's notes 'Taken on the Passaflora Lutea, but is most frequent on the Briar Vine called Solomon's Seal, when at rest the whole brood gathers round the stalk, spun up in the leaves and to the side of the box in a web of the colour of and resembling light brown paper, the 14th May, bred 20th August, is far from common'.
