Description

Portrait of a woman; single-page painting mounted on a detached album folio. Side A: Figure in European dress stands holding a metal vessel full of wine and a small blue and white ceramic cup. Dark blue ground. No inscription. Side B: calligraphy. Folio belongs to a series of single-page paintings and drawings of Indian rulers, all of which were once attached to the leaves of an album also housed in the British Museum collection. Ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper.
