Description

Fireplace in the Queen's Head, Islington; an elaborately carved mantelpiece, the lower part of the surround is stone, with two caryatids flanking the chimney breast and supporting an architrave carved with outdoor scenes, above which is the wooden part of the mantel, divided into two decorative panels flanked by more caryatids. July 1841. Watercolour with bodycolour over graphite.
