Description

Contents: "Pinchgut, a natural rocky outcrop in the middle of Sydney Harbour, was levelled to a gun platform in the early 1840s because of its obvious advantages for defending the Harbour. The construction of what is now known as Fort Denison did not begin until 1855. New Government House, occupied in 1845, can be seen at the left of the watercolour -- Curator's Notes, Frederick Garling exhibition, 2003."
