Specimens of paintings on the royal effigies at the abbey of Fontevraud, study for frontispiece of Stothard's 'The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain', published by Mrs Anna Eliza Bray, 1817-32, one of a large group of studies for this volume; from left to right, Henry II of England (succeeded 1154, died 1189), his wife Eleanor of Guyenne (or Aquitaine, died 1204)), Richard "Coeur-de-Lion" (succeeded 1189, died 1199) and Isabella of Angoulême, Queen of John (died 1246). 1816. Pen and black ink and watercolour, with graphite, touched with gold.
