Description
A man with a long moustach standing looking away to left, left hand on the sheath of the sabre hanging from his waist, right at his hip, wearing a light suit, open at the throat, ankle boots, pistols, dagger and hanging powder horn at his waist belt, a tall conical hat with an oval pin and oak leaves; with another man sitting smoking in front of one of several tents in the background to left. 1794. Hand-coloured soft-ground etching.
Inscription
Lettered below the image with the title and 'A Province of Hungary which supplies the Emperor with the bravest hardiest and most ferocious soldiers in his Army. A Body of them distinguished themselves at the siege of Valenciennes in 1793. / Pubd: Iuly 1st. 1794 by V. & R. Green, Berners street London & Chr. de Mechel of Basil [sic] in Switzerland'
