TWW Comment

This building was the residence of the Governor of British Columbia until shortly after the merger of British Columbia and Vancouver Island in 1866. At that point, the official residence moved to Cary Castle in Victoria. Cary Castle was destroyed by fire in 1899, and the replacement building met the same fate in 1957. The current Government House stands on the same site. The New Westminster building is believed to have been on the site now occupied by Royal City Manor.
