Description

Watercolour painting on paper of a butcher and his wife. The man and woman are seated on the ground. The man is holding a blade with his foot and cutting meat against it. The woman holds a feather or large leaf as if to swat away flies. In front of the man are instruments of his trade and also pieces of meat, including the head of a goat. A tree is shown behind him and from one of the branches hangs a piece of meat. The foreground is shaded a light green.
