Description

The image depicts four half-way houses on the ice road between Montreal and La Prairie. The wooden houses, with doors and small windows, are lined up along the edge of the road. On the left hand side of each house is a flagpole with a lantern handing over each door. Horse-drawn sleights are pulled up in front of them. In the distance, a city is visible with architectural elements visible. Thick dark clouds hover over the city.
