Description

View of the Rhine Falls, falling into the Rhine which flows across the foreground; either side of the waterfall is settlement; a watermill to the left; a figure stands on the rock in the centre of the falls; on the right is a building in the water, connected to the land by a bridge under which two boats are moored, and a stone wall; between these are three boats being unloaded with cargo onto the bank by a group of figures; in the centre foreground are three wealthily-dressed figures with a dog, observing the falls; a fishing boat at the bank to their right and another one in the river to their left. Etching with hand-colouring.
