This composition is very similar to watercolours and aquatints by Paul Sandby from a series of 'Views in Wales' published between 1775 and 1777. Sandby's 'The Iron Forge between Dolgelli and Barmouth in Merioneth Shire' can be viewed on the website of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
