Portrait, three-quarters length standing to left, looking away to right, left hand tucked into his waist band, holding a curved sword in his left hand, resting against the crook of his arm. Hand-coloured lithograph printed in grey and beige.

Inscription

Lettered in the image, as hand-written in ink by the painter, with the title, signature and date: 'David Wilkie ft Constantinople Novr 27th 1840.'
