Description

Unused watercolour illustration part of Charles Piazzi Smyth's Tenerife Papers. The Royal Society funded Piazzi Smyth expedition of 1856 to set up an observatory on a high point in Teneriffe. His observations were published in the paper 'Astronomical experiment on the peak of teneriffe, carried out under the sanction of the lords commissioners of the admiralty', published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 148 (1858), pp. 465-533.
