In 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh notes that this species is a native of the moist cool valleys among the Circar mountains. This unnumbered drawing differs from the numbered drawing of the same species. Sealy has inscribed in pencil 'The fruits seem to be D.glutinosa, but the male inflorescences differ considerably from those shown in Roxburgh's drawing (no.22) of this species, note that the inflorescenses are hairy, as is the young shoot, flowers are larger'. There are also inscriptions apparently in J.D.Hooker's hand on the drawing.
