Description

Watercolour painting on paper of a species of Bryonia, an genus of flowering plant in the cucumber family. The painting shows a climbing stem with multiple large green leaves issuing off. The stem also has multiple small round green, red and yellow berries which are often poisonous. Details of the fruit, seed and flower of the plant are also painted. Areas of the painting have been burnished to give a three-dimensional quality to the painting. The painting is from an album of 58 botanical paintings.
