Description

This drawing of a bridge at the Falls of Bruar, Perthshire is undated, but may be about 1794. The inclusion of 'Duke of Athol' in the title is probably a reference to the owner of the land around the Falls of Bruar.This is the only drawing relating to Bruar in the Hutton Collection. The Falls of Bruar are located on the Bruar water about three miles north-west of Blair Atholl, in northern Perthshire. The falls divide naturally into three sections, known as the lower falls, middle falls and upper falls. Similar stone bridges cross both the lower and upper falls. It is likely that the bridge shown in this drawing is the upper bridge.
