Description

The fortification on Marsland Hill at New Plymouth with a large hospital tent in front and many Maori and Pakeha in front of it. In the foreground, groups of Maori and Pakeha, including a man performing a challenge, with an axe. The occasion appears to be festive, with many flags strung up and families present, possibly after the cessation of hostilities at New Plymouth.
