Description

In this finished watercolour, dated six years after his return from Italy, we can see how faithfully Cozens has followed his original sketch of 1782. It is possible to see that Cozens was not only interested in recording a topographically valid landscape, but also in recording the transitory effects of light and atmosphere, so carefully noted on the on-the-spot drawing.
