Drawing depicting the use of a military balloon during the Boer War / F. W. Burton, nd. [c1899-1900]. Monochrome wash on pasteboard; image 36x52cm, board 38.5x54.5cm. Signed by artist, bl. Numbered in ink on verso, 973. Artist was Sir Frederick William Burton (1816-1900) who contributed illustrations to the Illustrated LondonNews. This is the original for reproduction. Cavalry are in the field escorting the observation balloon, riding hard (dead horse, bl)
