Description
Representation of the train crash at Kentish Town, in 1861; a collision on a railway bridge has caused one train to derail, and fall off the bridge, the carriages plunging and crashing into ground below. 1861. Lithograph with hand-colouring.
Inscription
Lettered with title, continuing "at Kentish Town Fields, on Monday, 2nd Septr, 1861, between 7 & 8 o'clock, P.M. - 14 killed - 60 injured". A faded signature at bottom right of image (E. Schunnals?), and publication line "London W.H.J. Carter, Printseller, Bookseller &c. 12, Regent St, Pall Mall"
