Drawing, 'Strangers' Hall' by Henry Ninham (1793-1874), watercolour on paper, undated; 14.1 cm x 20 cm; inscription backing paper 'St. John's Maddermarket / Norwich / South front of the Strangers Hall / the Hall of the house of a wealthy merchant of the 16th century / the brick bay with the ugly windows above it / was added in 1627 / when the old well staircase adjoining the north porch was stopped up and a staircase and gallery built in the Hall as shown / in an interior view / The Sothertons occupied it for a considerable part of the 16th century / HH'
