Description

Pen and ink drawing, accented with watercolour paint on paper of the mausoleum of Shaik Salim Chishti at Fatehpur Sikri. The painting shows the mausoleum from the front. It consists of a single-storey building with a central square chamber. The walls of the mausoleum are decorated with carved pierced screens of geometric design and the entrance is to the south. The building is ornamented with white marble serpentine brackets supporting sloping eaves around the parapet. On the roof of the building is a large bulbous dome faced in white marble.
