Description

This drawing, was probably made by George Henry Hutton himself, although no artist is named. Inchaffray Abbey was founded in 1200. Maurice, Abbot of Inchaffray, was chaplain to Robert the Bruce and carried relics of St Fillan before the Scottish army at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. Laurence Oliphant, a later Abbot at Inchaffray, was killed at the Battle of Flodden 200 years later.
