Description
Howard watercolour is in Colborne Lodge, Toronto. A rough pencil sketch (image 50 x 190 mm.) of this subject, extended to include the whole of the left building, is on pp. 36 (right side)-37 of Howard's survey notebook for 1834-1835 (Ms collection. Howard, J. G., Papers, section III, L 27, Survey notebooks, no. 2). Former printed JRR caption referred to the present as 1913, and states that the Canada Company building shown was erected in 1834. Entry in JRR catalogue mistakenly refers to another Canada Company building. Shows, at right, house of Thomas Mercer Jones, Front St. E., n.e. cor. Frederick St.
